SS Equine Enterprise LLC was established in 2023 by David and Jamie Smith, together with David's mother, Sylvia Smith. The organization aims to fulfill Jamie's long-held aspiration of developing a premier equestrian facility that provides boarders and horse enthusiasts with a welcoming environment to share their passion for horses.
Jamie Bittle Smith
After 32 years of teaching high school English, Jamie has begun a new journey in her career by offering riding lessons and managing the daily operations and finances at Blackstone Ranch. Having been recognized with the Lilly Endowment in Education for highlighting the importance of horses educating people, she is excited to share her expertise. A lifetime of passion for horses has given her the understanding of how horses can teach others, which is evident in her ongoing dedication to Blackstone's popular children's camps and successful riding lesson program.
David Joseph Smith
In 2023, David launched DJS Ranch Investments, establishing himself as a significant contributor at Blackstone Ranch. His extensive 33-year background managing operations at Walgreens and currently at Harbor Freight equips him with the necessary skills to oversee the maintenance and mechanical requirements of a large-scale facility. Outside of his professional commitments, he enjoys the companionship of his beloved dog, Seamus.
Sylvia Meltinos Smith
Sylvia's influence is profoundly felt at the ranch daily, in loving memory (1937-2024). During the final years of her life, she joined David and Jamie as an investor, demonstrating her commitment to their vision. Her dedication to their dream was evident through her steadfast support and confidence in their endeavors. Sylvia particularly enjoyed sitting in her rocking chair on the porch, watching the horses as they were brought in for the night, which she affectionately referred to as "the best parade," and appreciating the beauty of each one.
